Purpose of Project Templates

Project templates allow you to pre-populate a new project with a predefined folder structure, execution packages, and other configurations, saving time during project setup.

How to Create a Project Template

  1. Set Up the Project

    • Create a new project with the desired folder structure and configurations.
    • For details on creating a project, refer to the Project Creation section.
  2. Create a Baseline

    • Once the project is set up as desired, create a baseline using this project. Refer to Managing Baselines
  3. Download the Project

    • Download the project baseline to finalise the template.

How to Add a New Project Template in Enterprise Tester

Follow these steps to add and use a new project template in Enterprise Tester:


1) Add the Template to the Enterprise Tester Directory

  • Locate the Data directory where your Enterprise Tester application resides.
  • Create a new folder named ProjectTemplates (if it doesn’t already exist).
  • Place the zipped template file into the ProjectTemplates folder.


2) Create a New Project Using the Template

  • Open Enterprise Tester and navigate to create a new project.
  • In the Template dropdown field, the newly added template will appear.
  • Select the desired template and click the Save button.




  1. Project Settings
  • The Edit Project screen will appear. Here:
    • Picklist values will default to be specific to this project, avoiding inherited custom fields that might require reindexing.
    • Core Enterprise Tester fields like Priority, Status, and Assigned To will still be available.
  1. Save and Finalize
  • Click the Save button to finalize the project creation.
  • The project will be created with execution packages, and no reindexing banner will appear.
