In some instances it may be necessary to change the level of Ent= erprise Testers logging. When troubleshooting issues, it may be neces= sary to to change the configuration settings of your log file.
The following section provide instructions on how to make basic changes = to the Enterprise Tester logging Config files.
Log files by default are written to the Web\App_Data folder, in the inst= allation folder =E2=80=93 which can normally be found in C:\Program files\C= atch Limited\Enterprise Tester\Web\App_data\ - the current days logs will b= e written to a file called =E2=80=9Clog.txt=E2=80=9D and previous log files= will be stored as =E2=80=9Clog.txtYYYY.MM.DD=E2=80=9D where YYYY.MM.DD is = the date at which the log was recorded.
Enterprise Tester is configured to log only WARN (warning) messages by d= efault to maximize system performance. However, when troubleshooting = an error, you may be asked by our support team to provide a more detailed l= og file. To do this, you will need to change the logging status in yo= ur instance of Enterprise Tester, from WARN to DEBUG.
Open the logging.config file (normally found in Program Files\Catch Limi= ted\Enterprise Tester\Web folder) using notepad or other text editor.
Scroll to the bottom and change the =E2=80=9CPriority Value=E2=80=9D fro= m WARN to DEBUG as shown below:
<roo= t> <priority value=3D"DEBUG" />
Save and close the file. For the changes to the logging.config file to t= ake effect you will need to Restart IIS or =E2=80=99Recycle=E2=80=99 the Ap= plication Pool in IIS that Enterprise Tester is using.
As mentioned above, setting the logging level to =E2=80=98DEBUG=E2=80=99= will impact on the performance of Enterprise Tester =E2=80=93 once you hav= e captured the diagnostic information requested by Catch Limited you should= always restore this value back to =E2=80=99WARN=E2=80=99 to keep Enterpris= e Tester running at full speed (and avoid filling up your server with log f= iles).
