Equals is used to compare a Field to a single value, it is used for fiel= ds of numeric, date/time, timespan and lookup fields (picklists, custom fie= lds with a range of values, types, statuses, packages, projects etc.) It do= es not work for text fields, where you should use Contains and Does Not Con= tain instead.
Values can be either a single quoted, double quoted or unquoted value (u= seful for numbers etc.). Also, as elsewhere in the query language, where yo= u use a string value, you can substitute a function call as well.
Priority is high (unquoted value):
Priori= ty =3D High
Status is awaiting review (quoted value) for records of type script
Entity= Type =3D Script AND Status =3D "Awaiting Review"
All records belong to a single project called "Project X" (showing use o= f single quotes, but we could use double quotes instead if we wanted).
Projec= t =3D 'Project X'
All records assigned to me:
Assign= edTo =3D Me()
